Kids' rooms are their safe haven. They go to their room to escape the grown up world and explore the land of make believe. The room is their sanctuary, a place of comfort, a place of enjoyment, a place where they get to be kids. Make their room as enjoyable to be in as the great outdoors are to them. Update the room with not only age appropriate games and toys but also kids' furniture that sets the stage for their full use and entertainment.
Treat the space as not only a room for them to sleep in and hold their clothes and goodies, but also a place to explore and to unwind. Tie the room together with design elements that tell a story and furniture that has a purpose, such as tables and chairs, storage, and a versatile sleeping space.
Kid’s Furniture- Multipurpose & Fun!
Start your journey back to childhood with their sleeping arrangements. A kids' bunk bed is a great addition to any kid's room. Be it a sleepover or just a Tuesday night, a kid's bunk bed lets loose their imagination and is functional, too. The kids’ bunk bed lends extra storage and sleeping space, making a small room not so cramped. On the imagination front, it serves as a castle to descend, a fort to hide in or a tree to climb. The possibilities are endless.
A comfortable kid's chair is also a good addition to the room. The kid's chair will give them a reading nook, a quiet place for them to relax and enjoy their time. Select a kid’s chair that fits their size and gives them some room to grow. Add some pillows to the chair and drape a throw over the back for chilly winter days. Place the kid’s chair next to a window for both optimal light and a place to look outside from time to time. This will create a space that will make them want to pick up that book.
For all the toys and games that will be played in the updated room, consider getting a good kid's storage solution. This can come in many different shapes and ideas. A kid's storage solution can be as straightforward as a toy chest to store the clutter in, a large shelving unit for easy access to toys and books, or a combination of the two. If you find an older toy chest, replace the hinges so that the lid does not slam shut on little fingers.
Next add a set of kids' chairs and a table. This will create a workspace for them to do homework, have a tea party or play a game. The kids' chairs should be easy to move and clean. For a fun look, get different colored chairs and a solid white table.
Let your kids have some say in the design and accessorizing of their new room. Have them select colors and try out beds and chairs. Involving them in their room's creation will make them feel a part of it and enjoy their new sanctuary even more.
